MICRO SOCCER - aka U6

Basics

The Puyallup Soccer Club administers a U6 soccer program for player between the ages of 4 and 6. Players must be under the age of 6 on or before August 01. Players on a team may therefore be of different ages. The club will not register players younger than 4, due in large, to the age discrepancy already existing between 4 year olds and 6 year olds.

Teams

Micro soccer consists of a maximum of 6 players per team. Only three are allowed on the field during games. There is no goal keeper and no scores or standing are kept. U6 teams are co-ed. Player are not seperated by sex until U7. As a general rule, players do not move onto U7 teams until their age is commensurate with other U7 players.

Equipment

Players will receive from the club, a size 3 ball, and game shirt. Shorts, socks, shinguards, and molded cleats are not furnished, but are required to play the game.

Field of Play

The field of play consists of a rectangle 30 feet by 60 feet. Only the most basis lines are used in micro soccer; the touch line, goal line, halfway line, and center circle.

Since we are playing on Puyallup School District property, please be aware that all rules related to school field use will also be in effect for your games. No firearms, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or foul language will be allowed on school grounds. Remember the age of the player and act accordingly.

Please clean up when leaving. Our suggestion is, pack out what you pack in.

Games

Games consist of 2 - 20 minute halfs. All games are played at Woodland Elementary, on Saturdays. Game times range from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm depending on the amount of teams. All teams in the league consist entirely of Puyallup Soccer Club teams. There will be no travel, or away games at micro.

The micro league is 10 weeks long. Games will begin  in earlySeptember and end around mid November. All games will be played outdoors rain or shine. The only exceptions to weather will be lightning, snow, flooding, or any other storm event that puts the players in a dangerous situation. At this time, it has not been proven that rain would be harmful to a soccer player. In fact, most of the kids think it's real fun to get wet and muddy. HINT... bring a towel and change of clothing to rainy games.

Games schedules will be published by the Micro Chairperson by the end of August.

Referees

The club does not provide referees for Micro games. Before the game, each coach will agree on a parent or older sibling to stand in as referee.

Playing time

Each player is expected to play at least one-half of the game. Coaches are instructed to make substitution changes on a regular basis.

Practices

Each coach will determine the location and times for practice. Generally, practices will begin on or after August 01. You can expect around 2 practices per week about 1 hour in length. Some coaches eliminate practice when games begin, other continue with 1, or the original 2.
